Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–2:30 PM (onsite)
Job Description:
An excellent opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) supporting a student in Huntsville, Alabama. This full-time, school-based role provides 1:1 interpreting support throughout the school day. The interpreter will work closely with the student, educators, and school team to ensure effective communication and access to instruction.
Qualifications:
- Current Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit required
- Recognized interpreting certification preferred, such as RID, EIPA, or BEI
- School-based interpreting experience preferred
- Experience providing 1:1 student support preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable attendance and commitment to the full assignment
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers
- Support the student's access to classroom instruction and school activities
- Collaborate with educators and the educational team to meet the student's communication needs
- Maintain professional standards and confidentiality
- Work the complete school schedule as assigned
