Take your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter into a rewarding environment where you’ll support students’ communication and access to learning. This contract position, beginning August 24, 2026 and running through June 15, 2027, offers the fulfilling opportunity to work primarily in the Eugene area. You’ll be part of a dynamic team made up mostly of professionals supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, collaborating while working independently in a consistent set of school buildings. The majority of your work will be one-on-one, allowing you to make a direct and positive impact on students’ daily experience.
Qualifications:
- Completion of recognized interpreter training
- IEPA score above 3.5 required
- Current, valid licensure to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
- Experience with K-12 or similar school caseloads strongly preferred
- Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language, and vice versa, for students (primarily 1:1 assignments)
- Foster accessible classroom communication in cooperation with DHH educators and support staff
- Travel to assigned school buildings within a consistent area
- Maintain professional confidentiality and comply with all school and district guidelines
Additional Details:
- 1-2 full-time positions available, working standard school hours on a set schedule
- Preference will be given to candidates who provide references at time of application
- VOCO services are not part of this role
