Sign Language Interpreter in Kansas City, KS

Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret using SEE Sign, CASE/PSE, and other sign systems as needed
- Minimum of EIPA 3.5 or BEI Basic required
- Preferred qualifications include EIPA 4.0, BEI Advanced, KQAS 4, NIC, or other RID certifications
- Strong grasp of interpreting ethics and confidentiality standards within school settings
- Flexible, collaborative attitude and professional demeanor
- Previous experience in educational interpreting, especially in K-12 environments, is highly valued
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate interpreting between students, staff, and teachers using appropriate sign language systems
- Foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective classroom participation
- Adjust interpreting methods based on individual student needs and IEP guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality, respect boundaries, and uphold professional integrity at all times
