Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Los Angeles, California
Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter and Paraprofessional for 5th and 6th graders. This contract opportunity is based near Los Angeles, CA, and offers a fast-paced environment where your skills in ASL make a daily impact. This position is an emergency backfill, so candidates able to begin as soon as possible are strongly encouraged to apply.
For the first 4-6 weeks, you are guaranteed shifts five days a week, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. After this initial period, the position transitions into a full-time schedule, allowing you to build strong connections with students and staff as the academic year progresses.
What we’re looking for:
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience supporting students in classroom or educational settings
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff
• Comfortable working with 5th and 6th grade students
• Reliable, adaptable, and able to respond to urgent needs
• Ready to begin work immediately
Key responsibilities:
• Interpret classroom instruction and student interactions using ASL
• Serve as a vital communication bridge for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Support classroom activities and assist in learning accommodations
• Foster a supportive, inclusive environment for students’ academic and social success
• Assist with daily routines and provide paraprofessional support as directed
• Communicate regularly with educators on student progress
