You will be an essential resource for 5th and 6th graders in an inclusive educational environment, helping facilitate communication and learning for students who are D/deaf or hard of hearing. Your work will be especially impactful as this is an emergency backfill assignment, ensuring continuity for the students you support.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Background or certification in sign language interpretation preferred
- Previous paraprofessional experience in a school setting is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Must be able to begin work as soon as possible
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between staff, students, and peers
- Provide individual or small group support to students, fostering both academic engagement and independence
- Collaborate with educators to develop strategies for student success
- Assist with daily transitions and support classroom management when needed
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times

- Guaranteed shifts five days a week (Monday-Friday), 8:00am – 2:30pm, for the first 4-6 weeks to ensure you have a stable introduction to the assignment
