Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting skills in educational settings
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in schools
- Certification as an interpreter or equivalent credential preferred
- Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students
- Comfortable working one-on-one with high school students and adapting to classroom activities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services to ensure accessible communication between a high school student and teachers, peers, and staff throughout the school day
- Accurately convey spoken information into sign language and vice versa, maintaining the integrity and intent of all communications
- Foster engagement, understanding, and participation for the student during classroom activities, assignments, and discussions
- Work closely with educators to translate academic content and facilitate successful learning experiences
- Adhere to the school's schedule; this contract is approximately 16 hours per week throughout the full school year
- Maintain clear and professional documentation as needed
