This contract position operates full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday through Friday) during the academic year. You'll provide essential interpretation services, ensuring that Deaf and hard of hearing students receive equal access to classroom instruction through both virtual and on-site modalities.
What You’ll Need:
- Current registration on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Department of Health)
- EIPA score of 4.0 (including written); RID and NIC credentials are also acceptable if accompanied by the written portion
- Demonstrated experience with VOCO (virtual interpreting platforms)
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous work interpreting in a school setting—high school experience preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation for high school students in various academic and school-related settings
- Adapt interpreting style to student needs, assignments, and subjects
- Collaborate with school personnel to support student inclusion and learning goals
- Maintain accurate, confidential records when required
- Engage with school staff and participate in relevant meetings or training sessions
