Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid license for sign language interpretation (as required)
- ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Proven experience working 1:1 with pediatric populations, ideally in school or educational settings
- Strong understanding of interpreting best practices with children and educational teams
- Excellent communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively onsite, aligning with school protocols and student needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and culturally responsive American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services for a designated student throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, educational staff, and peers, both in classroom instruction and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt instructional content for accessibility
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of interpretation sessions as required
- Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development as appropriate
- Support the student’s social integration and advocate for accessibility where needed
