Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Bonita Springs, Florida
Step into a rewarding role supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. Located near Bonita Springs, FL, this full-time contract opportunity is on-site only and offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in educational settings. Assignments are expected to be at one school, working closely with K-12 students, both 1:1 and in small groups.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to clearly interpret for DHH students
- Achieved a 3.0 EIPA score or higher, or hold NAD or RID national certifications (preferred)
- Able to demonstrate strong interpreting skills during a panel interview
- Experience supporting children or youth in educational environments
- Commitment to full-time hours (37.5 per week) for the duration of the school year
- Must complete and pass required fingerprinting—previous Florida school district fingerprint records may be used if valid
- Eligible to obtain a JLA badge (processing may take up to 10 business days after fingerprint clearance)
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction for DHH students, providing effective communication access
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Support student participation and learning across various educational settings
- Collaborate with school staff to address students’ individual needs and accommodations
- Maintain professional documentation and adhere to all confidentiality requirements
