What We’re Seeking:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials (EIPA Score of 3.5 or above required)
- Proficiency in educational interpreting practices
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in a school environment preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and staff
- Professionalism and adaptability in dynamic classroom settings
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school events for students who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers, staff, and peers
- Ensure clear and accurate delivery of spoken and signed information
- Adapt interpretations to student age, grade level, and subject matter
- Support IEP meetings, parent conferences, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for all participants
- Engage with educational teams to promote student success and accessibility
