Make an impact on students’ education as you support and advocate for hearing-impaired learners in a dynamic school setting near New Orleans, LA. In this full-time contract opportunity, you’ll be a key resource for resource-level hearing-impaired students, working closely with educators and students alike to optimize learning outcomes. Starting as soon as possible and running through the end of May 2027, your week will align with the school calendar, totaling 37.5 hours Monday through Friday.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree with Louisiana teacher certification in Hearing Impaired
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with hearing-impaired students in a mainstream setting
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Collaborative spirit, able to inspire and motivate across diverse teams
- Proven ability to troubleshoot devices including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive listening equipment
- Basic proficiency in sign language
- High standards of professionalism and effective management of multiple priorities
- Computer proficiency, with a thorough approach to data and record keeping, including IEP documentation and progress reports
- Required fingerprinting and drug screening for credentialing
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing IEP-driven educational services tailored to hearing-impaired students
- Supporting general education teachers through consultation and preparation of instructional materials
- Collaborating with school teams and maintaining open communication with educators and families
- Identifying and facilitating access to necessary equipment and auditory materials
- Conducting in-service training to foster inclusive, welcoming environments
- Keeping meticulous student records and reports
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the Student Support Unit
