Key Qualifications:
- Valid VQAS Level 3 or higher, or EIPA score of 3.0 or above
- Professional background in educational settings, especially with young children
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL instructor preferred
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt interpreting strategies for a kindergarten classroom
- Preference for in-person interpreters; virtual interpreting not considered for this role
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one ASL interpreting for a kindergarten student, bridging communication between the student, peers, and educators
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support lesson accessibility and participation
- Assist in fostering an inclusive, language-rich classroom culture
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times
- Provide feedback on student’s communicative needs and progress as part of the educational team
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insight into language accommodations
