Qualifications and Skills:
- Hold a minimum score of 3.5 on the EIPA or possess a valid VQAS Level II or III.
- Professional experience in a school-based setting as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of ASL and interpreting practices for K-12 students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt interpreting methods to meet individual student needs and classroom environments.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for classroom instruction, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and school staff.
- Support students’ educational goals by ensuring equal access to curriculum and resources.
- Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to adapt materials or support learning plans as needed.
