Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Norfolk, Virginia

Key Qualifications:
- Hold a VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III credential
- Possess an EIPA score of 3.5
- Demonstrated expertise in American Sign Language interpretation in educational settings
- Ability to interpret for both classroom activities and meetings involving families
- Flexible to support after-hours extracurricular student activities as needed
- Onsite presence required; virtual or hybrid placements are not permissible
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct interpretation support within K-12 classrooms
- Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and peers, ensuring equal access to learning
- Provide interpretation for meetings involving deaf or hard-of-hearing parents or guardians
- Assist during extracurricular and school-related activities beyond regular school hours
- Adapt to a dynamic caseload and potentially work across multiple school sites within the district
