Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL), and vice versa, during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings for DHH students.
- Collaborate closely with educators, service providers, and staff to create an inclusive educational experience.
- Adapt communication style to the age and unique needs of each student, supporting individual and group learning settings.
- Maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards in all interactions.
- Accurately document and report on work provided as required.
- Foster an atmosphere of respect, sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- Valid 3.0 or higher EIPA score.
- Previous experience in educational or school-based settings highly preferred.
- Skilled at effectively conveying information between ASL and spoken English.
- Flexible and able to manage dynamic caseloads ranging from elementary through high school age groups.
- Completed (or willingness to complete) fingerprinting and background checks, with status through Florida’s AHCA Clearinghouse preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and families.
