An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a high school student for the 2026-2027 academic year. This vital role offers the chance to make a significant impact by providing one-on-one interpretation services within a dynamic and supportive school environment. Working Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm, you will facilitate clear and effective communication, ensuring accessibility and an enriching educational experience for your assigned student.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher (required)
- Experience working in a school setting is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and related modalities
- Ability to foster positive and respectful relationships with students, educators, and families
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a high school student during all scheduled classes and school activities
- Support the student’s full participation in classroom discussions, assignments, and extracurricular events
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and school administration to adapt communication strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assigned sessions and progress
- Continually refine interpreting skills in alignment with best practices and student needs
