This full-time, contract position focuses on supporting an elementary-aged student in a self-contained classroom setting, ensuring inclusive communication and access to education. Your expertise in sign language interpretation will play a vital role in fostering both academic and social growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational settings
- EIPA score of 3.0 or higher required
- PEL (Professional Educator License) for interpreting in schools: either applied for or currently active
- Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate integrated learning
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation between student, teachers, and peers
- Interpret all classroom instruction, discussions, and relevant activities
- Adapt communication style to meet the individual needs of the student
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to student support plans
- Support a positive, inclusive learning environment
