Key Qualifications:
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Applied for or currently hold an active Professional Educator License (PEL) with approval to interpret in Illinois schools
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience working with students or in school settings is highly valued
- Reliability and professionalism in maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a high school student during afternoon academic sessions
- Collaborate with educational staff to support the student’s learning and participation
- Adapt language modality and strategies to meet individual student needs
- Accurately convey spoken and signed communication in an educational context
- Maintain required documentation of services rendered in compliance with school policies
Role Details:
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 12:30 – 3:00 pm
- Commitment: 12.5 hours per week
- Duration: Start as soon as possible and continue through May 2027
