Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in an educational or school-based environment
- Ability to provide clear, accurate interpretation for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate with educators and support staff
- Experience supporting high school-aged students is a plus
- Flexible, patient, and nurturing approach to communication
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and activities to ensure full student participation
- Foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment by bridging communication between the student, peers, and staff
- Assist with written classroom materials and tasks as needed
- Adapt interpreting techniques to fit the individual learning style of the student
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
