Step into a rewarding in-person role supporting K-12 students as a sign language interpreter in a collaborative, educational environment. This full-time, itinerant opportunity spans four local school sites, ensuring every day brings new interactions and fresh challenges. You’ll be part of a dynamic team, with additional support from a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) and a Clinical Fellow (CF), working directly with students, teachers, and staff to foster inclusive communication in the classroom.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter or teacher, or experience supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
- Comfort adapting to the needs of a diverse K-12 student population.
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites during the school day.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Commitment to professional growth and providing high-quality interpreting.
What You’ll Do:
- Interpret classroom instruction and school communications for students using ASL.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other interpreters to create an accessible learning environment.
- Serve as a key facilitator between students, instructors, and peers across a variety of school settings.
- Attend possible orientation or training sessions starting in July 2025, with the full assignment beginning in August.
- Work a consistent school-day schedule, approximately 7:30am–3:00pm, supporting the full school day.
