This contract opportunity focuses on providing dedicated 1:1 interpretation for pediatric students across multiple grade levels, including Pre-K, Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle School. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational interpreting best practices
- Prior experience working with pediatric populations, ideally within school settings
- Capacity to work comfortably in both lower (Pre-K, Kindergarten, Elementary) and upper (Middle School) grade levels
- Understanding of 1:1 interpreting, adapting communication style to match students’ learning levels and needs
- Ability to collaborate with educators, therapists, and other professionals to foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (national or state-level) preferred or equivalent demonstrated skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate interpretation between students and educational staff in varied learning contexts
- Support assigned students during classroom activities, therapies, and school functions
- Assist in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and tailor support to specific requirements
- Foster trust and connection with students and school staff to promote engagement and academic growth
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in all interactions
