Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); fluent paraeducators with strong ASL skills are encouraged to apply.
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher highly desired.
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is a plus.
- Collaborative approach to working with teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt to students’ needs and classroom dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpretation services to a 4th-grade student within a mainstream classroom, ensuring full access to instruction and participation.
- Accurately translate spoken word to sign and vice versa, maintaining clarity and integrity of communication at all times.
- Support instructional activities and facilitate communication between the student, educators, and peers throughout the school day.
- Assist with pre-teaching or reinforcement of academic content, as guided by instructional staff.
- Uphold student confidentiality and follow school policies and professional standards.
