Qualifications:
- Proficiency in sign language interpreting, with demonstrated experience in educational settings
- EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- State PEL (Professional Educator License) for interpreting in schools—either active or proof of application in process
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, tailoring interpretation to a variety of classroom situations
- Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability when working with students, educators, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers, adapting message delivery as required
- Support students’ participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with educators and specialists to provide optimal support
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical practices for interpreters in educational settings
- Assist in developing accessible materials and resources as needed
