Educational Sign Language Interpreter - San Antonio, Texas

Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: BEI I/II (previous) or Basic (current system).
- Experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably with children from preschool to middle school age.
- Skilled in American Sign Language with proven ability to support diverse learning needs.
- Ability to obtain district-required fingerprinting and undergo a successful background check.
- Positive, collaborative attitude and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time sign language interpretation between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and peers, educators, and staff within an assigned PK–8 school campus.
- Support equitable access to curriculum, classroom participation, and school activities.
- Adjust interpreting techniques to meet students' varying developmental levels.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with school policies and ethical guidelines.
- Communicate regularly with teachers and administration to support student engagement and success.
