Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in American Sign Language, demonstrated by an ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Experience working in educational or school settings, preferably with K-12 students
- Ability to interpret effectively in academic, social, and extracurricular contexts
- Commitment to fostering inclusive communication and supporting student independence
- Flexibility, professionalism, and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized sign language interpretation for a student throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, educators, and staff in classroom and non-classroom settings
- Ensure accurate and confidential interpretation in a variety of school-related situations
- Support the student’s participation and engagement in academic activities, special projects, and school events
- Collaborate regularly with teaching staff and support personnel to address student needs and progress
- Adhere to professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards in all interactions
