Desired Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in American Sign Language
- Demonstrated experience as a Language Facilitator
- Prior work with students experiencing language deprivation
- Ability to understand written instructional plans and classroom materials
- Proactive in maintaining required trainings and certifications, submitting documentation as needed
- Reliable attendance and consistent, strong job performance
- Physically able to lift up to 30 pounds and meet onsite job requirements each scheduled day
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with classroom teachers and support staff to meet students’ needs
- Monitor student understanding, offer instructional or behavioral reinforcement guided by teachers
- Introduce new vocabulary, clarify and reinforce lessons, and foster effective classroom communication and self-advocacy
- Support classroom climate by assisting with duties that enhance learning, while prioritizing direct language facilitation
- Perform additional tasks as needed by school administration
