Key Qualifications:
- Certified Sign Language Interpreter (state and/or national certification preferred)
- Experience supporting pediatric populations in educational environments
- Proficiency interpreting in 1:1 settings with students requiring individualized assistance
- Knowledge of classroom routines and ability to adapt interpreting style to various age groups, including Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Middle School
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with teachers, students, and educational staff
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethical standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and sign language during classes and school activities for a designated student or students
- Facilitate classroom participation and peer interactions, ensuring access to both academic and social content
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and progress observed
- Assist with transitions between classes and support participation in non-academic activities as needed
