Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide remote interpretation services for K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers in a virtual educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation during virtual instruction and school-related activities.
- Ensure students have full access to classroom content and participation opportunities.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and school personnel to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Document services as required by the district.
Qualifications
- EIPA score meeting state requirements (3.5+ preferred).
- RID certification preferred but not required.
- Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred.
- Comfortable using virtual platforms and technology to deliver services remotely.
- Reliable internet connection and dedicated workspace.
