Qualifications and Experience Desired:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Prior experience working in K-12 educational settings, especially high school, is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to adapt interpreting methods for classroom instruction, group work, and athletic settings
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification or equivalent (preferred)
- Capability to support students in both academic and extracurricular settings, including physical activities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for a high school student throughout the school day, including classroom learning, group activities, and football practice or events
- Work collaboratively with teachers, coaches, and other staff to ensure the student receives equitable access to information and participation
- Support the student in both academic pursuits and extracurricular involvement, adapting as needed for various contexts and communication demands
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
- Document and report progress or concerns to the appropriate educational professionals as required
