High School Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Williamsport, MD

Step into a rewarding opportunity providing essential support to a vibrant high school student as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time, contract assignment spans approximately 37.5 hours per week, with a schedule running from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. You’ll make a meaningful difference by helping to bridge communication and enhance learning for an enthusiastic student deeply involved in academics and extracurricular activities, including football.
Key Qualifications:
- Current credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (certification or state licensure as required)
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with the ability to interpret in academic and athletic settings
- Prior experience supporting students in high school environments is highly desirable
- Capability to adapt to varying classroom settings and events, including sports and other activities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect with students, staff, and parents
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between the student and staff or peers in classrooms, hallways, and extracurricular settings
- Interpret spoken and signed communication during instructional, athletic, and social situations throughout the school day
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment tailored to the student’s learning style and social engagement
- Collaborate with educators and school personnel to anticipate and respond to interpretive needs
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
