High School Sign Language Interpreter in Williamsport, MD

In this contract position, you’ll work full-time alongside a dynamic high school student, supporting their communication and participation in both classroom and extracurricular activities—including on the football field. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 37.5 hours each week for a consistent and rewarding routine.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and able to interpret accurately in a variety of educational settings
- Prior experience interpreting for high school-aged students, preferably within a school environment
- Ability to adapt to an active student’s needs, including participation in athletic and extracurricular contexts
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering student independence
- Professional certifications/licenses as required for educational interpreters are highly valued
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation during academic lessons, tests, and group discussions
- Support the student’s communication and inclusion during physical education and football activities
- Collaborate with teachers, coaches, and support staff to ensure seamless communication access across settings
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, adhering to ethical standards for interpreters
- Adapt interpreting strategies as needed to facilitate student engagement and success
