Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience in educational interpreting
- Hold relevant certifications or licensure for school-based sign language interpreters
- Comfortable working closely with early childhood learners and educational teams
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and positive relationships within a school setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary interpreter for a DHH student at the Head Start center
- Facilitate clear, accurate communication between the student, peers, and staff throughout the school day
- Support the student’s access to classroom instruction, activities, and social interactions
- Adapt interpreting approaches as needed to fit the learning requirements and environment
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the student’s needs are met
This contract role runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, totaling 30 hours per week. As an integral part of the student’s educational experience, your impact will be felt daily.
