You’ll play a vital role in facilitating clear communication for elementary-aged students in an educational setting, primarily working one-on-one to provide language access and support in the classroom.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification required: VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III
- Preferred: EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher; candidates with a score of 3.0+ or a QAS Score of 3+ will be considered for interview
- Experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter
- Comfortable providing services in various school locations, according to student assignment
- Familiarity with Visaphonics is valued, though not mandatory
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Deliver effective one-on-one interpreting services to elementary-age students
- Support students in all educational activities, ensuring full participation and understanding
- Adapt to coverage needs by providing interpreting services at multiple locations, as required
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to facilitate a positive learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in line with professional interpreting guidelines
