Sign Language Interpreter in Williamsburg, VA

Qualifications and Experience:
- Current VQAS Level III or higher, or EIPA score of 3.0 or above, is required
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments, preferably with early childhood or elementary-aged children
- Solid command of American Sign Language and familiarity with diverse communication styles within the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community
- Strong collaborative spirit and a commitment to supporting student-centered learning
- Ability to adapt communication strategies based on individual student needs
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, peer interactions, and school events for a kindergarten student using ASL
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, teachers, and classmates to support daily participation and academic progress
- Prepare for lessons and activities in advance to ensure seamless interpreting support
- Provide feedback and collaborate with teachers, educational specialists, and family members
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
