Make a significant impact supporting students in a dynamic school environment as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 academic year! We are seeking three dedicated interpreters to facilitate communication and enrich the educational experience for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Multiple positions are available serving either high school (9th–12th grade, Gages Lake) or elementary–middle school students (K–8th grade, Vernon Hills).
Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (screenshot confirmation required; no exceptions)
- Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with school-aged youth
- Strong sign language vocabulary and proficiency adapting interpretation to a range of student needs
- Professionalism, dependability, and ability to collaborate with educators and staff
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and fostering an inclusive classroom environment
Role Details:
- Contract runs August 2026 - May 2027 (institute/training days included)
- Choose between high school (Gages Lake, 9th–12th grade, caseload approx. 12 students) or elementary–middle school (Vernon Hills, K–8th, caseload approx. 30 students)
- Interpreting groups range from 1–5 students per class
- Set Monday–Friday hours, 35 per week (8am–3:30pm or 8:15am–3:45pm, depending on site)
- Onsite work only, supporting students and staff face-to-face
