Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Arlington Heights, IL
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter within dynamic school settings near Arlington Heights, IL. Two openings are available, each offering the chance to support inclusive learning environments and empower students through meaningful communication.
Position 1 is based at a specialized education center in Vernon Hills, scheduled Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, continuing through May 28, 2027. Position 2 provides a part-time schedule at a high school in Grayslake, Monday through Friday from 8am to 12:00pm, with assignments lasting until May 20, 2027. Both roles require on-site presence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language interpreting within educational environments
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with ISBE Approval, or EIPA 3.0–3.4 with interim Illinois State Board of Education Interim Approval
- Alternatively, acceptance of BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials with proper ISBE Approval
- Strong sense of professional ethics and commitment to student confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with educators and administrators
- Prior experience in school-based interpreting preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality interpretation services for students requiring sign language support
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Adapt to classroom routines and accommodate varying student needs
- Support academic access and encourage positive learning experiences
