Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a Sign Language Interpreter in California’s beautiful central coast region. You’ll play an important role facilitating communication and access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring their inclusion and participation in all aspects of school life. This full-time position is available immediately and will continue through the 2026-2027 school year, working 37.5 hours per week across multiple schools.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid CA SLP license or California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) credential required
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based setting strongly preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret in real-time for students, staff, and families
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families
- Flexibility to travel between campuses within the region as needed
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpreting services for students in classrooms, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and meetings
- Adapt interpreting techniques to match the student’s age, developmental level, and language needs
- Support educators in modifying instructional materials for accessibility
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpretation
- Contribute to the educational team by sharing observations and insights to promote student success
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding student progress and needs
