We are seeking an experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to work either full-time or part-time for the full school year. Your skills and presence will empower students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they can access academic content and participate fully in the school community.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong understanding of interpreting practices.
- Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education teams, and students.
- Strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and a commitment to ensuring accessibility.
- National or state interpreter certification preferred, or willingness to obtain as required by assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school-related communications for students and staff.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in both academic and extracurricular activities.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the diverse needs of students across various grade levels.
- Support staff meetings, conferences, and parent-teacher interactions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of interpreting activities and student engagement.
