Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with an ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Previous experience in K-12 environments as a sign language interpreter preferred
- Ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and families to provide seamless support
- Flexibility and adaptability for dynamic school settings
- Hold applicable certification or licensure as required for educational interpreting
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between D/deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, classmates, and other school personnel
- Interpret classroom discussions, instructional materials, announcements, and extracurricular activities
- Support individualized education plans by adapting to the specific needs of the student
- Maintain confidentiality and support an inclusive, positive learning environment
- Engage in ongoing professional development as needed
