Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other school communications between students, staff, and teachers using American Sign Language.
- Provide language access services during assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with special education staff, general educators, and administrators to ensure consistent communication support for students.
- Help create an inclusive, accessible learning environment for all students.
- Maintain professional standards for confidentiality, ethics, and interpreter conduct as outlined by relevant organizations.
Qualifications:
- Certification or demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language interpreting.
- Experience working in K–12 educational settings strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and current best practices in language access.
- Must be comfortable working onsite throughout the duration of the contract.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt interpreting techniques to diverse student needs.
