Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Port Angeles, Washington
Make a lasting impact by providing essential communication support to K-12 students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. In this contract role, you’ll work closely with a diverse group of young learners to promote equal opportunities in both classroom and extracurricular settings. Your expertise will help foster an inclusive environment for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Start your assignment on September 3, 2026, and continue through June 15, 2027. This opportunity offers a consistent weekday schedule—35 hours per week, Monday through Friday—letting you be an integral part of students’ educational journeys.
Ideal candidates hold an EIPA or RID certification and have a strong background in educational interpreting at the K-12 level. This position is perfect for professionals passionate about making a difference and collaborating with dedicated educators and support staff.
Qualifications & Credentials:
- EIPA or RID Certification required
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, preferably K-12
- Ability to adapt interpreting techniques for various age groups and classroom activities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and professional ethics
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, student interactions, assemblies, and school events
- Support individual or small-group student needs as assigned
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to best serve students
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records as required
