Sign Language Interpreter in Sequim, WA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting K-12 students for the 2026-2027 school year. This position offers the chance to work closely with students, educators, and families to foster equitable access to education. The assignment begins September 3, 2026, and concludes June 15, 2027, providing a stable and meaningful role in the academic community.
You will be interpreting for a diverse caseload of students, ensuring clear communication and access to classroom activities, curriculum content, and peer interaction. This is a 35-hour per week, Monday through Friday engagement, giving you a consistent schedule with a positive impact.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) or RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification with a passing score
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and receptive/expressive interpreting skills
- Experience in educational or school-based settings strongly preferred
- Ability to interpret for various content areas and age groups, K-12
- Genuine interest in advocacy and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Duties include:
- Providing one-on-one or group interpreting based on students’ IEPs and classroom needs
- Collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility
- Maintaining ethical standards, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
- Adjusting communication style for varying language levels and classroom environments
- Supporting student independence and full participation in school life
