What We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and English, with the ability to interpret accurately in a school setting
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly within educational environments
- Familiarity with classroom dynamics and collaborating with teachers and educational teams
- Certification or licensure as required by state or national standards for educational interpreters
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- A passion for supporting student learning and ensuring accessibility
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken and written classroom content into ASL for students, and facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff
- Assist teachers in providing accessible instruction and classroom participation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Support student learning across various grade levels and subjects
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Collaborate with educators to adapt materials and communication as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings or team conferences as requested
- Stay current with interpreting best practices and professional development opportunities
