Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Chicago, IL
Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a contract Sign Language Interpreter for the full school year near Chicago, IL. This onsite opportunity focuses on providing direct interpretation services to tdhh and dhh students in a school-based setting—most likely within a specialized satellite program. With a steady 32.5-hour workweek, your expertise will play a vital part in fostering accessible learning environments across varying grade levels.

Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement as mandated for school-based sign language interpreters
- Demonstrated experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments, particularly with tdhh (teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing) and dhh (deaf/hard of hearing) students
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and educational interpreting best practices
- Flexibility to adapt to different grade levels and school site assignments
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, support staff, students, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation to ensure effective communication for assigned students throughout the school day
- Support both classroom activities and individual learning objectives
- Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt instructional content as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all settings
- Participate in team meetings and contribute insights on student progress
