Key Qualifications:

- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in K-12 school settings
- Understanding of educational terminology and practices
- Ability to facilitate communication in both one-on-one and group environments
- Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and support staff
- Assist teachers delivering American Sign Language curriculum, supporting classroom engagement and instruction
- Accurately convey spoken/signed communication during lessons, assemblies, and school activities
- Support individualized education plan (IEP) goals related to communication access
- Adapt interpreting style and vocabulary to match subject matter and student needs
- Maintain records and regularly update the team on student progress and participation
