Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the full academic year. This position offers the opportunity to work on-site, serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing within a dedicated satellite program. Your expertise in American Sign Language will bridge communication and foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment. The assignment is approximately 32.5 hours per week, ensuring a meaningful and stable presence in the students’ school experience.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Valid professional credentials for your discipline and state
- PEL with LBS1 Endorsement
- Previous experience providing interpretation services in a school or educational setting preferred
- Strong command of sign language and ability to facilitate communication between students, staff, and peers
- Flexible and collaborative professional who can adapt to different grade levels and educational settings
Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for DHH and TDHH students
- Support classroom participation by interpreting lessons, discussions, and activities
- Serve as a language model and communication facilitator across a range of educational contexts
- Work at a host school site, with details on grade level and number of schools to be determined
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and special education professionals to support student engagement and success
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adhere to school and district policies
