What we’re looking for:
- Expertise in American Sign Language, with experience supporting students in school settings
- Current and valid Illinois Sign Language Interpreter license
- Familiarity with district or state-specific requirements (PEL, Para Cert, or other credentials if requested by the director)
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and supporting a diverse student population
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with education professionals
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken communication for high school students, ensuring accurate and clear delivery in classroom settings and school events
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other interpreters to best support student goals
- Support students’ access to their curriculum, enhancing participation and engagement
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards
- Engage in ongoing professional development or district-mandated training as needed
