Looking for an opportunity to utilize your expertise in sign language interpretation in a supportive educational setting? This full-time contract position places you at the heart of a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program within a middle school. You will play a vital role in facilitating communication and inclusion for students by serving as a dedicated interpreter in Hampshire, IL.
Key Qualifications:
- Current or pending PEL (Professional Educator License) with an EIPA score of 3.0 or above
- Demonstrated fluency and professional skills as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience or comfort working within a school-based setting supporting DHH students
- Commitment to fostering a positive and accessible learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation between students, teachers, and staff for instructional and extracurricular settings
- Ensure accurate, confidential, and effective interpretation tailored to student needs
- Support the communication needs of students in both individual and group activities
- Collaborate with the DHH Program team to address accommodations, participation, and accessibility
- Assist in student advocacy and promote independence and self-advocacy among learners
