Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Lake Worth, Florida
Step into a pivotal role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across grades K-8 in a rewarding educational setting. This contract opportunity runs from August 2026 through May 2027, offering full-time hours at one of several school sites in the vibrant West Palm Beach area. You’ll be a crucial part of a creative, inclusive environment where communication bridges learning and growth.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpretive services for K-8 students
- Level 3 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA 3.6+), OR certification through the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), OR Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) – National Testing System/National Interpreter Certification (CI/CT, CSC, NIC, NIC-A, NIC-M)
- Previous experience in educational settings preferred
- Confidence interpreting a range of classroom content in real time
- Required: submission of an interpreting sample video (instructions provided prior to linking)
- Ability to complete Florida school district fingerprinting and credentialing requirements
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation for DHH students in a classroom setting
- Foster effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Adjust interpreting techniques based on grade level and lesson content
- Work exclusively on-site; vocal/remote services are not part of this assignment
- Collaborate with education professionals to support students’ academic and social development
