Sign Language Interpreter in Dixon, CA
Step into a meaningful role as an on-site Sign Language Interpreter supporting K-12 students for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity begins August 12, 2026, and continues through June 4, 2027, providing consistent, school-based hours. You'll work at a single school site, partnering one-on-one with a student to foster access to learning and facilitate full participation in the school community. Key Skills, Licensure & Qualifications:
- Current Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license or certification valid in California
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
- Experience in school settings strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt interpretation to a range of grade levels and learning situations
- Proficiency in working collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
- Professionalism, dependability, and excellent communication skills
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for one student in academic and social settings
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and school staff
- Assist in creating an accessible learning environment within the general education classroom
- Adjust interpretation style to best suit the student's age and comprehension
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies and applicable laws
- Participate in IEP team meetings and collaborate in the student’s support plan as needed
The contract requires 35 hours per week onsite during school hours, enabling you to build strong rapport and make a visible difference in a student’s daily experience.
