Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in a school or educational setting preferred
- Ability to effectively interpret for students who are fluent in ASL
- Strong sense of professionalism, reliability, and collaboration
- Comfortable with either in-person or virtual (voco) arrangements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpreting services for a single high school student throughout the school day
- Support class participation, comprehension, and integration into both academic and social activities
- Foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Collaborate with educators and student support teams to ensure effective communication
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines of interpreting
Position Details:
- Start date: August 10th
- Full-time schedule: 5 days a week, 40 hours (in-person)
- Virtual candidates: 25-30 hours per week
- Caseload: One well-behaved, fluent ASL student—no behavioral challenges
- Flexible contract: Length may range from one month to the entire school year (contingent upon the needs of the student and school)
